Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions

These are the terms and conditions under which we supply services to you as a patient of the Birmingham Circumcision Centre. Details of the treatment are available on our website www.birminghamcircumcisioncentre.co.uk. Please read these terms carefully before you use our services. If you have any questions in relation to these terms, please contact us.

Appointments & Cancellations

Appointments can be booked by contacting us by phone, email or using the website enquiry form. You will receive an email and SMS confirmation once the appointment has been booked. Detailed information will be sent via email. Please read all the documentation carefully before attending for your appointment. Appointments are subject to availability.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to ensure all necessary paperwork can be completed in time. Late arrivals may result in your appointment being cancelled.

Birmingham Circumcision Centre will aim to ensure your appointment runs on time. We are not responsible for delays outside of our control. If our service is affected by events outside of our control, we will inform you as soon as possible and aim to minimise any inconvenience this may cause. In very limited circumstances we may need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you are not satisfied with the proposed rescheduling, you can request for the appointment to be cancelled. We reserve the right to cancel or postpone your appointment at short notice.

For cancellations and rescheduling we request 3 working days’ notice. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please contact the clinic as soon as possible via phone and a member of the team will assist you. If the phone lines are busy, please leave a voicemail with your details or send us an email. A member of the team will endeavour to contact you within 24 hours.

If an appointment is cancelled without providing adequate notice or you Do Not Attend your pre-booked appointment, we reserve the right to refuse to book another appointment if requested. If you wish to book another appointment after a late cancellation, missed appointment or having failed to provide required documentation at your initial appointment, an additional fee of £100 will be payable.

Suitability & Refusal

We reserve the right to refuse to carry out the procedure. The patient will be examined to ensure there are no medical contraindications and that the procedure can be performed safely. If a contraindication is seen or the child becomes extremely distressed, the procedure will be cancelled. We will give you further information and provide a letter to hand in to your GP. In this situation a consultation fee of £75 will be payable. See Cancellation & Refund Policy.

If you do not provide us with the required information, we will not be able to perform the procedure. If you do not advise us of any medical conditions as requested in the medical history declaration form, prior to attending for the appointment, we reserve the right to refuse to carry out the procedure and charge you a consultation fee of £75.

Both parents need to provide consent and photo ID (exclusions apply for single parents). The child’s birth certificate, passport or Red Book needs to be seen. If these conditions are not met, we will not be able to perform the circumcision.

Payment

Full payment is required before the procedure is performed, either by cash or credit / debit card. If the procedure has to be cancelled due to a medical contraindication or the child becomes extremely distressed, a consultation fee of £75 is payable. This will be deducted from the total amount already paid and you will be refunded the difference.

A pre-operative consultation is free on the day of circumcision, only if the procedure is performed. If the procedure is not carried out or if you require a separate consultation, a fee of £100 is payable.

Aftercare & Emergencies

You will be provided with comprehensive aftercare information and emergency contact details. You are able to contact us during the advised times to discuss any concerns. A follow up appointment can be arranged if clinically indicated, until the ring has fallen off and the circumcision has healed. We are unable to offer free follow up appointments after the circumcision has healed. All follow up appointments must be booked in advance.

If you are not able to contact us or it is outside our working times, please speak with your GP or contact NHS 111. In the very rare event of an emergency, please take your child to the nearest children’s Accident & Emergency department or ring 999. Detailed advice will be given after the procedure and is included in the aftercare information.

Pricing

Service fees are listed on the website. These are subject to change and we reserve the right to amend these without notice. The amount payable will be the current fee listed on the website at the time of appointment booking and will be confirmed with the booking details via email.

Re-circumcision

Removal of insufficient foreskin is an established risk of Plastibell ring circumcision. This is stated clearly on the consent form and the Risks & Complications information. In the event of insufficient foreskin removal, if parents request re-circumcision, this will only be performed at the discretion of Dr Aziz based on clinical evaluation. Occasionally re-circumcision is not possible with the ring method and will require a formal cut & stitch circumcision which we do not provide. A charge will be payable for re-circumcision even if the initial procedure was performed by us.

Liability

We take precautions to ensure the procedure can be performed safely. Services are provided by doctors who have all required qualifications and registrations. Our doctors will make an expert assessment to evaluate and carry out the procedure.

Birmingham Circumcision Centre will not be liable for any damage, including personal injury sustained as a result of the parents’ failure to disclose relevant medical history, economic or any other consequential loss. We are not responsible or liable for any advice or treatment an external medical practitioner offers you.
